GAT Convention is now one of the approved Clinics for the USA Brevet/National Judges Course.
GAT Convention may be used for only ONE of the two educational events required.
THANKS go to Diane Callison- TxUSAG Chairman for working with the National Office to get this event on the list along with Regional and National Congresses and NAWGJ Symposium as one of the clinics that may be used to meet one of the 2 clinics required for Course attendance.

New NAWGJ Uniform Information. NAWGJ has switched to Land's End for our Judging uniforms. Additional information and a link for ordering is on the Uniform page.
Texas NAWGJ supporting judges education-
The 2008 Texas Judges Cup was extremely successful. For this reason TxNAWGJ will be able to help judges with their educational expenses during this turnover year in the following ways:
- This year All current active TX NAWGJ members will be awarded 4 general Education Points (previously 2 points per judge were awarded)
- This year All Tx NAWGJ members attending the USA Brevet or National Judges Course will be reimbursed the $200 registration fee
- This year All TxNAWGJ members attending the FIG Brevet course will be reimbursed the $400 registration fee.
- This year all judges volunteering at 2008 Judges Cup had their memberships renewed after 1 session worked. Additional sessions went to education points (special for 2008 Judges Cup. Next year it will be back to 2 sessions for membership renewal)
These benefits are for current active Texas NAWGJ members only. (Current meaning on the NAWGJ membership list dated 1/22/09, Active meaning having fulfilled CPE requirements)
Receipts are REQUIRED for any reimbursements. (See "Points for Education" below)

JUDGES MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT
Judges' Mileage Reimbursement for 2009
Effective January 1, 2010, the rate for mileage reimbursement for judges is $.50/mile to reflect the recent in the IRS standard mileage rate for 2009.
Clarification: deduct 30 miles from round trip to airport.
Checked Luggage- 1st bag paid by meet director, no overweight bags. Receipts required.

This is our fourth year for the "Points for Education System" for Texas judges. Judges are able to earn "points" that can be used for the purchase of the Optional and/or Compulsory Code or other educational materials from USAG, or any of the many items from the NAWGJ Library, the NAWGJ uniform, judge certification testing fees, Safety Certification fee, NAWGJ membership, USAG membership, USAG Background check, and Sanctioned Clinic fees including registration, airfare, hotel and gas expenses. This general points allowance is for TxNAWGJ Professional members that are active and CPE compliant.
Points are earned in the following way:
- Each "point" is worth $25.
- One po
- int earned per session worked at Judges Cup after the first 2 sessions.
- One point per session judged at Level 7 All-Star Texas Challenge (minimum of 2 points guaranteed).
- 1 point per session volunteered at National Judges Cup
- Every Texas NAWGJ professional member (as of Dec 31) will get 2 points (TxNAWGJ has the right to increase or decrease this amount based on financial situation of TxNAWGJ as determined by TxNAWGJ Board.)
Points earned at Judges Cup will be recorded by assigning officials and forwarded to State Judging Director.
Points will be redeemed by submitting a receipt to the SJD for items purchased as stated above. SJD will then reimburse judge.
The deadline for redeeming points earned will be 10 days after last day of GAT 2009 (Receipts Must be received by September 17, 2009). GAT signifies the end of the "Points" year. Points earned after GAT may be used on expenses for the new year and cannot be used for "last year's" expenses.
